The billboard reads: "IF YOU LIVED HERE YOU WOULD BE HOME BY NOW! (LOL)"
This tongue-in-cheek approach to real estate promotion had always caught my attention every time I would drive by the Kingsway/Nanaimo neighbourhood. I assumed the advertisement was promoting a new residential development (the site currently is still the El Dorado hotel), but I never bothered pulling over to see what the development was called or what it would look like.
So I had to do some digging.
The project is 2300 Kingsway and is marketed as "The Time + Place".
Having lived on the West Side all my life and not being familiar with the East Side, I am naturally biased against all things East Side. However, this development on the corner of Kingsway and Nanaimo looks like it has some potential.
It promises unobstructed views from each vantage point, a practical location, and at units starting at $195,000, how could one go wrong?
The previews and site plans offer an architecturally stunning living space with steel construction.
It’ll be interesting to see the Collinghood neighbourhood evolve into something more contemporary and modern as the project goes on.
